Does KinderCare Delete Your Photos When Your Child Leaves?

It's one of the first things parents ask when a KinderCare chapter is ending: if we leave, do the photos disappear? The honest answer is a bit more nuanced than yes or no, so here's what you can actually rely on.

What usually happens

The KinderCare app runs on the Lillio platform, and like every childcare app, it's run by the provider, not by you. Your child's photos sit on their account, and your full access is tied to your child being enrolled. When enrolment ends, your account is normally downgraded.

Whether the underlying photos are immediately deleted from the provider's systems is something only KinderCare and Lillio can say for certain, and it isn't clearly documented for parents. But that's almost beside the point: once your account is downgraded, the photos get much harder to reach either way. Saving them means going one at a time, if you can get to them at all.

What you can't count on

• A fixed timetable. Some centres keep full access open for a while after you leave; others cut it back on the last day. The timing varies and isn't something you can predict.
• The centre keeping a copy for you. Staff are busy, and there's no obligation to archive a departing family's photos. If you ask them to email a few over, what comes back is rarely everything, and rarely at full quality.
• An easy way back later. Once the account is downgraded, there's usually no quick route back to the full set of photos.

What to do instead

Treat full access as borrowed time and get everything off the app while you still have it, ideally weeks before the last day, not after it.

1. On a computer, sign in to KinderCare at classroom.kindercare.com and check you can see the full history of photos, not just recent ones.
