What Happens to Your Lillio (HiMama) Photos When Your Child Leaves?
Lillio keeps a child who leaves as an inactive profile, not a deleted one. What that means for your photos, and how to save every one of them in one go.
When your child leaves a daycare that uses Lillio, the app formerly called HiMama, Lillio says their profile becomes inactive rather than deleted. Your photos don't vanish on the last day, but Lillio still only lets you save them one at a time and your center now controls the account, so the easiest way to keep them is to save everything, at full quality, in one go while you're signed in.
What Lillio says happens when a child leaves
Lillio's FAQ answers the question directly: when a child leaves or graduates, "the child will become inactive", and their profile and all of the associated records and reports stay accessible.
Two things are worth knowing about that answer:
- It's written for centers. It sits in the part of the FAQ aimed at child care centers, and it doesn't say how long a family's own login keeps working after the last day.
- Your center manages your access. The same FAQ says Lillio can't add anybody to a child's profile for privacy reasons, and sends parents back to their center. If your login stops working, the center is the one who can connect you again.
We couldn't find a Lillio page that sets a date for removing an inactive profile. So the honest summary is: not deleted when your child leaves, as far as anything published goes, but no longer really yours to manage either.
The real problem: one photo at a time
Lillio is upfront about this. On the web you open your child's Entries list and click the download icon next to each photo, and the FAQ adds: "you cannot currently download more than one photo at a time." Videos are the same, saved one by one from each video's menu.
That's fine for a favorite. It isn't fine for a few years of daycare. One parent described it on Threads after her child graduated: more than 1,000 photos, no more than 50 selectable at once, and, after contacting Lillio's support, no data takeout.
So once your child leaves, the account doesn't disappear, but it becomes a downgraded version of what you had: no new photos, the center in charge, and the old ones slow to get out.
Save every Lillio photo and video in one go
NurseryDownloader is a Chrome extension that saves every photo and video from Lillio to your computer.
- Install it. On a laptop or desktop, open Chrome or Microsoft Edge and add NurseryDownloader from the Chrome Web Store. It doesn't run on phones or tablets.
- Sign in to Lillio at app.lillio.com. KinderCare families sign in at classroom.kindercare.com, which works the same way.
- Click download. In the NurseryDownloader panel at the top right of the page, click Download all photos & videos.
It finds every child on your account and saves each one into their own folder, then a folder for each month, with the date at the start of every filename. Videos come down alongside the photos. Your first 20 downloads are free, so you can check the quality before you buy a license.
Your photos go straight from Lillio to your computer and never pass through our servers. It never asks for your Lillio password, because it works in your own browser, where you're already signed in.

Questions parents ask
Will Lillio delete my child's photos when they leave?
Lillio's FAQ says a child who leaves becomes inactive, with their records still accessible, rather than being deleted. It doesn't publish a date after which an inactive profile is removed, so the safest plan is to save everything before the last day and not rely on either answer.
Can Lillio send me all the photos at once?
Lillio's FAQ describes saving photos one at a time and doesn't mention an export for parents, and the parent above found there was no data takeout. Downloading them yourself is the reliable route.
Is HiMama the same as Lillio?
Yes. HiMama is Lillio's former name, and some of Lillio's own help pages still use it. NurseryDownloader works on app.lillio.com, the older himama.com addresses and KinderCare's classroom.kindercare.com.
Does it save the daily reports and notes?
No. It saves the photos and videos, sorted by child and date. Daily reports and written notes stay in Lillio.
Can I do this on my phone?
No. Chrome extensions only run on a computer, so use Chrome or Edge on a Windows PC, Mac or Chromebook. Sign in with the same Lillio account you use on your phone.
