Does KinderCare Delete Your Photos When Your Child Leaves?
What the KinderCare app and Lillio actually say about a child who leaves, why one-photo-at-a-time saving is the real problem, and how to keep every photo.
Nothing KinderCare publishes says your child's photos are deleted when they leave. The KinderCare app runs on Lillio, and Lillio says a child who leaves becomes inactive while their profile and records stay accessible, so the real obstacle is that the app only lets you save one photo at a time, and the easiest fix is to save everything at full quality, in one go, while you're still signed in.
What KinderCare and Lillio actually say
The KinderCare app runs on Lillio, the platform many parents still know as HiMama, and KinderCare has its own app FAQ. Three lines in the official FAQs matter here:
- On leaving. Lillio's FAQ says that when a child leaves or graduates, "the child will become inactive", and their profile and all of the associated records and reports stay accessible. That answer sits in the section written for child care centers, and it doesn't say how long a family's own login keeps working.
- On saving photos. The KinderCare app FAQ explains how to download a photo on Android, iPhone and the web, then adds: "you cannot currently download more than one photo at a time."
- On who controls access. The same FAQ sends you to your center if you're missing your welcome email, and Lillio's FAQ says the platform can't add anyone to a child's profile for privacy reasons. Your center decides who is connected to your child.
We couldn't find any KinderCare or Lillio page that sets a date for deleting a former family's photos, or one that promises how long you keep access. So the honest answer is: not deleted on the last day, as far as anything published goes, but not something you control either.
What changes once your child has left
From a parent's side, an inactive profile is a downgraded version of the account you had:
- No new photos arrive. What's there now is the whole collection.
- Your center runs the account. If your login stops working, the center is the only one who can connect you again.
- Saving is still one photo at a time. Every photo and every video is a separate tap or click. One parent on Lillio, the same platform, counted more than 1,000 photos after her child graduated, and after contacting support found there was no data takeout.
That's why "does it delete them?" is the less useful question. The useful one is: can you get them all out, at full quality, while you can still sign in? You can, and it takes one click.
Save every KinderCare photo in one go
NurseryDownloader is a Chrome extension that saves every photo and video from the KinderCare app to your computer.
- Install it. On a laptop or desktop, open Chrome or Microsoft Edge and add NurseryDownloader from the Chrome Web Store. It doesn't run on phones or tablets.
- Sign in to KinderCare at classroom.kindercare.com, as you normally would.
- Click download. In the NurseryDownloader panel at the top right of the page, click Download all photos & videos.
It finds every child on your account and saves each one into their own folder, then a folder for each month, with the date at the start of every filename. Videos come down alongside the photos. Your first 20 downloads are free, so you can check the quality before you buy a license.
Your photos go straight from KinderCare to your computer and never pass through our servers. It never asks for your KinderCare password, because it works in your own browser, where you're already signed in.

Questions parents ask
Will I lose access the day my child leaves?
Not necessarily. Lillio describes a child who leaves as inactive, not deleted. But your center runs the account, and nothing published says how long a former family stays connected. The simplest plan is to save everything before the last day, so the question never matters.
Can KinderCare send me all the photos at once?
The KinderCare app FAQ doesn't describe a bulk export for parents. It describes saving photos one at a time. You can ask your center what they're able to do, but the quickest way to get every original is to download them yourself.
Does it save the written notes and daily reports?
No. It saves the photos and videos themselves, sorted by child and date. The written notes and daily reports stay in the app.
Can I do this on my phone?
No. Chrome extensions only run on a computer, so use Chrome or Edge on a Windows PC, Mac or Chromebook. Sign in with the same KinderCare account you use on your phone.
